Kristin Pleines, LCSW, DSW
My interest in working with young children started as an undergraduate at Providence College, where my thesis focused on teaching early childhood service providers how to identify signs of sexual abuse in preschool-aged children. I completed my MSW at the University of Connecticut in 2010, and worked for several years doing in-home work with foster children and later with families of children with Autism. I’m trained in Animal-Assisted Therapy, although my practice does not currently have a registered therapy animal yet.
Since moving to NYC in 2013, I’ve worked with many families of young children doing trauma work and parenting support. While my specialty is play therapy, I’m also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I also love to use video feedback in my work with families. My passion is helping families to manage life stressors, big or small, and strengthen their relationships in the process.
Jasmine Cohen, LCAT, R-DMT
I’m a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Dance/Movement Psychotherapist. I work collaboratively with my clients to help support their emotional and mental well-being through an integration of the mind and body. I am trauma focused, intersectionality minded, and psychodynamically oriented.
I am deeply committed to addressing mental health stressors related to oppression, family dynamics, trauma, and identity. I strive to practice cultural humility and maintain an QTGNC affirming and body positive space. I focus on the inherent strengths within each individual, locating self-empowerment through the somatic experience.
Through empathetic and compassionate care I support each individual’s journey towards feeling more at home within their body, mind, and community.
Ally Sheinbaum, LMSW
I am an LMSW providing both individual and family therapy. I work primarily with preschool-aged and school aged children, teens, and families. My style is warm and caring, beginning with developing an authentic relationship from our very first conversation. I hold a comforting space that feels nurturing while also holding you accountable. This is the place to be vulnerable, honest, and truly yourself. Let’s be real, no one has everything figured out.
My goal is for my clients to learn new strategies and skills that will allow them to become the best version of themselves, which will allow them to lead happier and more fulfilled lives. It is not always easy asking for help, so I applaud you for taking the first step. You might have identified goals or things you want to address, or might not know where to begin, either way I am here to begin the journey with you.
Rachel Gordon, LMSW
I’m an LMSW providing individual and family therapy. I specialize in play therapy, grief therapy, anxiety, and attachment theory. Play is the natural way for children to communicate, which makes it a great fit for young children in therapy. I also often work with older children, teens, and young adults. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and tailored to the individual and family that I am working with.
When working with children and teens, I recognize the importance of including the caregiver in the therapeutic process. I use an empathetic and compassionate approach to create a space for your child or teen to express their thoughts and feelings, while also learning skills and strategies to use outside of therapy.
I understand how challenging it can be to reach out for support for you or your child, and I am here to support you throughout this process. I’m looking forward to meeting you and helping you and your child meet your goals!
Anna Prendella, LMSW
I specialize in dynamic psychotherapy with people with neurodivergences and intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as with their families, partners, and communities. I provide both individual and inclusive family therapy, including couples therapy, and my clients encompass a wide range of backgrounds, strengths, challenges, and goals.
As a therapist, I am warm, creative, and dedicated to meeting every client where they are and walking alongside them. With my particular expertise in the areas of complex family dynamics, trauma recovery, and abuse prevention, I help all my clients build rich, self-directed lives where their needs are met and their voices are heard.
I believe that every person has the power to shape their own story, and every family can be mutually caring, healthy, and vibrant. I offer a free fifteen-minute phone consultation with prospective clients, and I look forward to getting to know you.
